StackHawk's new Wingman tool plugs into Claude Code, Cursor and GitHub Copilot, remediating vulnerabilities the moment an AI coding agent marks a feature complete.
Application security company StackHawk Inc. has introduced Wingman, a product designed to remediate vulnerabilities within the same artificial intelligence coding session in which the flawed code was written. Announced on September 15, the launch shifts vulnerability detection and remediation out of separate, post-development review stages and into the agentic workflows where software is now increasingly generated.
The tool deploys within agentic coding environments, including Claude Code, Cursor and GitHub Copilot, and activates the moment an agent flags a feature as complete. From that trigger, the scanner configures itself, assessing the finished work without a manual setup step. Because remediation occurs inside the same session that created the defect, developers and their agents can address weaknesses before the code advances toward review or merge.
The timing matters because agent-driven development compresses the interval between writing code and treating it as finished. A feature that once took a team days can emerge from an automated run in minutes, which means security checks that begin only after a developer closes out the work risk arriving after the flaw has already traveled downstream. StackHawk's design inverts that sequence by running the security pass at the exact moment the agent declares completion.
For engineering and security leaders evaluating AI development tooling, the launch signals that application security vendors are following the work into the agent layer itself. Coverage of Claude Code, Cursor and GitHub Copilot means teams using those environments can adopt the scanner without restructuring their existing setup. The broader implication is a change in where security sits in the AI-assisted software lifecycle: no longer a gate after the agent finishes, but a component running alongside it, handing each agent its own findings to fix while the session is still open.
