The annual Mac software upgrade is now downloadable for all Apple-silicon Macs, adding Apple Intelligence features, reworked parental controls and design adjustments to the Liquid Glass interface.
Apple has pushed macOS 27 Golden Gate out to the public, delivering the annual flagship software upgrade for the Mac. The update is available for download as of the announcement and, as previously announced by the company, it is being offered to every Mac model equipped with an Apple-designed processor. Headlining the release is the arrival of Siri AI on the Mac, the milestone the source report leads with.
The substance of Golden Gate lies primarily in artificial intelligence. Alongside a long list of smaller system improvements, the new version brings above all additional functions built around Apple Intelligence, the company's AI feature set. That focus makes the operating system update the main delivery vehicle for Apple's AI software push on the Mac.
Beyond the AI push, the update reworks Apple's child protection options and applies adjustments to the Liquid Glass design. Among the changes users will see directly, the report highlights a newly added slider control, part of the visible refinements bundled into this release. The parental controls rework is presented as one of the substantive non-AI changes in the update.
Because the release is reserved for Macs with Apple processors, the newest AI functions are tied directly to Apple silicon, reinforcing the link between the company's in-house chip strategy and its software-driven AI roadmap.
For buyers and investors tracking AI compute, the rollout is a consumer-facing signal rather than a data center event, but it underlines how quickly AI assistants such as Siri are being embedded into mainstream desktop operating systems, with Apple using its annual OS cycle as the delivery mechanism for new intelligence features on the Mac.
