Chuwi's new workstation pairs AMD's Ryzen AI MAX+ PRO 495 with 192GB of memory and 160GB of VRAM allocation, matching Apple's new workstation on memory while adding local AI support.
Chuwi has unveiled the UniBox AI495 Pro, a compact workstation built around AMD's Ryzen AI MAX+ PRO 495 processor. The system's defining specification is 192GB of memory, a capacity figure that places it on par with Apple's new workstation. Alongside the memory complement, Chuwi is positioning the machine for on-device inference, with local AI support listed among its core capabilities.
The memory story is where the UniBox AI495 Pro makes its strongest case. Of the 192GB installed, up to 160GB can be allocated as VRAM, giving AI applications an unusually large pool of video memory for a system of this size. For buyers running AI workloads locally, that allocation is the headline number: it determines how much model weight and context can reside on the device at once.
Visually, the machine takes clear design cues from the old Mac Pro, giving the AMD-powered system a silhouette that long-time Apple watchers will recognize. The resemblance underscores how directly the UniBox AI495 Pro is being pitched against Apple's hardware. By matching the 192GB memory figure of Apple's new workstation, Chuwi is positioning high-memory local AI setups as something that no longer requires an Apple-branded machine.
For the AI compute market, the launch is a small but telling data point. AMD's Ryzen AI MAX+ PRO 495 gives compact systems access to memory capacities that stand out even against established workstation hardware, and Chuwi is using that headroom to target local AI users directly. With 160GB of VRAM allocation available, the UniBox AI495 Pro makes the case that substantial on-device AI capacity can now arrive in a desktop chassis that borrows its silhouette from Apple's past rather than its current lineup.
