Leaker Jaykihn says the 4+8+4 core desktop chip with 12 Xe3P graphics cores is now uncertain and may debut with the next generation instead.
Intel's plan to ship a desktop chip with substantially more powerful integrated graphics has reportedly slipped by a full product generation. According to prominent Intel leaker Jaykihn, the long-rumored "big iGPU" variant of the forthcoming "Nova Lake-S" desktop processor family may never arrive as planned, with the design instead pushed back to "Razor Lake" — the successor generation due roughly a year after "Nova Lake."
The SKU in question was shaped as a true desktop APU: a 16-core CPU cluster arranged as four P-Cores, eight E-Cores, and four LPE-Cores, paired with 12 Xe3P graphics cores. That combination was intended to deliver enough graphics throughput for light gaming and 3D work on integrated graphics alone. Earlier reporting indicated the chip could support DDR5-8000 memory through CSODIMM modules, with a Power Limit 2 (PL2) setting of about 40 W.
Power delivery was another distinguishing characteristic. Rumors circulating beforehand suggested the integrated graphics solution would carry two VCCGT phases, enabling up to 65 W of power. The 4+8+4 CPU core and 12 GPU core configuration is one of the few processors for which integrated graphics would require dual VCCGT phases; in regular SKUs, VCCGT is a single-phase power rail serving the integrated graphics inside the processor.
The timing of the reported postponement weighs heavily on the outlook for desktop integrated graphics. "Nova Lake" itself remains months away from launch, and with the high-graphics SKU now attached to the following generation, a desktop APU from Intel capable of excellent integrated graphics performance appears considerably further out than previously assumed — if the design materializes at all, given that its future is described as uncertain.
