The AI upscaling feature for games, previously exclusive to ARM-based Windows machines, is now rolling out to PCs with Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors, starting immediately.
Microsoft has begun rolling out Auto Super Resolution, its AI-powered game upscaling feature, to Windows 11 PCs built on Intel processors, according to a report by German technology outlet WinFuture. The capability had previously been exclusive to ARM-based Windows machines. The introduction starts immediately, with PCs carrying Intel Core Ultra Series 3 CPUs the first Intel systems to gain support.
Auto Super Resolution applies artificial intelligence to upscale games, targeting higher image quality than a system's native rendering would deliver on its own. Until now, that capability was confined to ARM-based devices, tying a flagship Windows gaming feature to a comparatively small corner of the PC market while the dominant x86 installed base sat without it.
The gating to Core Ultra Series 3 processors suggests that only Intel's newest client chips currently meet the hardware bar for running the feature. Microsoft frames the move as the start of an introduction rather than a finished rollout, leaving the pace of any broader expansion to be seen.
For commercial and consumer PC buyers, the change erodes one tangible differentiator between ARM and Intel Windows machines: built-in AI game upscaling from Microsoft itself. For Intel, it lands as a software-driven argument for its latest Core Ultra generation, positioning the new silicon as capable of delivering experiences previously associated with the ARM camp.
